Stone Soup is a small, invite-only app for friends and family who cook together. We collect only what the app needs to work, and we don't have a business model that involves your data: no ads, no selling or renting personal information, ever.
What we collect
- Account basics — your name and mobile phone number (used to sign you in and to reach you, as described below).
- Photos you take in the app — pictures of your fridge, pantry, dishes, and an optional profile photo.
- Your activity in the app — kitchen ingredient lists, recipes, cooking sessions, ratings, and messages within your cooking circles.
How we use it
- To sign you in with one-time passcodes sent by text message.
- To turn your kitchen photos into ingredient lists and suggest dishes you and your friends can cook.
- To share your kitchen and activity only within the cooking circles you belong to — circles are hard-walled; nothing about you is visible to people outside them.
- To send notifications you'd expect (like a cook-together invitation), which you can manage in the app.
Photos are processed by an AI service to extract ingredient names and suggest dishes; they are used for that purpose, not for advertising or for training unrelated systems.
Text messages (SMS)
You opt in by entering your own number on the sign-in screen and tapping "Text me a code." We send one-time passcodes and, for account holders, occasional circle notifications. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. Your phone number and your SMS consent are never sold, and never shared with third parties for their marketing.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no data sales, no third-party marketing.
- No tracking beyond what the app itself needs to function.
Deleting your data
Ask and it's gone: contact us and we'll delete your account and the personal data that goes with it.
